I'll be you, and you be me.

RIP Maurice Sendak... and lately spending some extra time enjoying the titles from our own library. This book is one of my very most favorites. Ruth Krauss's words and Sendak's drawings are so complimentary, so gorgeously authentic and spare.

I'll Be You and You Be Me, by Ruth Krauss, pictures by Maurice Sendak, HarperCollins, 1954.

compulsive pattern matching and the gridded pod

The moment I have been waiting for: an Angela Adams textile I could afford, and fit into my house: Dandipod, from the mini-handwovens collection. It arrived Friday and it is beautiful!

Hangs above our old map of Groningen NL that we have had for many years. Gridded pods, look!

And yet, more pods. My brain is strangely cascading with OCD endorphin oneness.

wild clay

Artist Ako Castuero. I missed this show. But consolation prize, I read how to make wild clay here. She is all-around awesomeness.

friends and cars.

Homemade translation of the classic store-bought classroom valentine, at its most economical. Beloved licensed character, check. Friendly but non-romantic, gender-neutral message, check. Treat, check. A preschooler needs not a thing more or less. Well done, Hector's mom. This is the essence of Valentine. Even more now that it's May.

(...And yet how this candy escaped detection for almost three months remains a mystery.)

what 3 year olds dream about

"I want the COLOR CEREAL Daddy. The BLUE, the YELLOW, the PINK! I saw a commercial about it. I had a DREAM about it!"
